Now that Mirror’s Edge is out…

It's time to start speculating what the next great physic's based game is going to be!

So let's see…Mirror's Edge worked off the popular Parkour free-running videos that appeared (as far as I can remember) around 2006.  Lots of running and jumping twisty free-style stuff; incredibly scary yet amazing stuff to watch (btw if you haven't played the game yet, you can try the 2D demo here, courtesy of Borne Games).

I'm going to go on a limb now, and announce the next great game: Can Throwing.  Now wait, wait!  Before you start yelling obscenities, think about the possibilities!  Can Throwing…for the Wii!  Using Nintendo's motion sensing technology, we can fully capitalize on a new genre that hasn't even been conceived by any studio yet, independent or not!

Still not convinced?  Watch this video first, and then see the awesomeness that is…can throwing.

Unbelievable can throwing skills

Yeah, yeah?  Ain't it just the most grandest thing you've ever seen?  You could even put this concept into all kinds of throwing games, like darts!  Or…basketball!  Now we just have to get the ball rolling and propose the idea to Electronic Arts…

I so want to learn how to throw cans. I think folks around me will get annoyed by the noise of the near-misses bouncing off the rims of trash cans and baskets, though. May need to think through how I can replicate this with similar weighted objects, like nerf cans or something.
